Yoga

“In my view, it is not useful to think of different styles of Yoga: this is simply yoga, which comes from a vast and ancient source. The only authentic Yoga is one which works for each person according to circumstances and needs and there are many possibilities.”

T.J.V. Desikachar - The Heart of Yoga

Classes run for 60 minutes and are a blend of Yoga and Hanna Somatics.

Inquiry Hatha Yoga

This is not ‘destination’ yoga. It is suitable for both beginners and anyone who is interested, curious and open to explore their inner landscape. Self-inquiry is encouraged, postures and movement are explored with awareness of breath, body and mind.

Everyone is built differently and has varying levels of flexibility. Coming to terms with our own unique design, knowing limitations and letting go of expectations, enables acceptance and connection with your body.

Self-compassion creates a space within you that is free of judgment. “Yoga traditionally means to unite, to yoke together, to bring together. Kindness is like the glue–it always connects us. Known to not only be good for our health and well-being, kindness offers us a felt sense of belonging, and a practice in which our essential and true nature is in action.” Donna Farhi.

I offer small, bespoke classes of no more than 3 people. My style of teaching offers:

  • Release held tension in our bodies.

  • Decluttering of the busy mind.

  • Access to the stillness that is at the centre of every cell of our being.

  • A way to find joy in simplicity.

Values

  • Acceptance

When you know what your body is capable of, when you are able to breathe, with ease, in and out of shapes, you can accept. This is not destination yoga. Everyone is built differently and has varying levels of flexibility. Coming to terms with our own unique design, knowing limitations and letting go of expectations, enables acceptance.

  • Kindness

Self-compassion creates a space within you that is free of judgment. “Yoga traditionally means to unite, to yoke together, to bring together. Kindness is like the glue–it always connects us. Known to not only be good for our health and well-being, kindness offers us a felt sense of belonging, and a practice in which our essential and true nature is in action.” Donna Farhi.

  • Curiosity

Being inquisitive, wondering and noticing allow us to develop movements that resonate with us. Being curious can inspire us to accept and explore with an open mind, resulting in increased self awareness and compassion. Looking inward on the mat with curiosity will spill over in to everyday life.
